Indra Purina - Venue Finding Executive
Jigsaw © Conferences Ltd Indra Purina - venue finding executive said it had seen a spike in the number of enquiries from its members in the US following the results of the EU referendum on 23 June when the value of the pound immediately dropped.
“Following Brexit it was effectively advertised to the world that the UK was on sale we have seen a spike in enquiries for UK meeting rooms and venues,” said Indra. “We’re also seeing a huge spike in searches for corporate housing from our overseas business.”
The UK’s weakened pound is making travelling for meeting's and events much cheaper for the overseas clients to travel pre brexit.
Mandy Chagger - Operations Director said
“Initially a weaker pound will encourage visitors and also exports will flourish.
We should seize the moment and lock in that competitive advantage with a permanent cut to VAT for accommodation and attractions, and possibly in the future also for restaurants,” she said.
